Vic; Bracks cops flak over contract details
The Victorian government's record on openness has come under fire in parliament todayover another job-for-mates allegation.
Deputy opposition leader LOUISE ASHER's led the attack on the government over the awardingof a three-year WorkCover contract to an advertising agency with Labor links.
The company Shannon's Way, headed by BILL SHANNON, was awarded a three-year contractfor strategic planning and advertising for WorkCover last May.
The opposition has applied to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal to obtaininformation about the contract under Freedom of Information but failed to discover itstotal value.
Ms ASHER's told reporters BILL SHANNON ran the 1999 state ALP election campaign andhe's treasurer of Labor's fundraising arm, Progressive Business.
The government came under fire last year over the appointment of a friend of the Premier,JIM REEVES, to the $221,500-a-year position as head of the state's Urban and RegionalLand Corporation.
Mr REEVES was due to start work early this year but stepped aside last November afterhis appointment was subjected to intense scrutiny.
