NSW: Business group denies youngster neglect

Australia's largest business lobby group denies employers are guilty of disregarding
the safety of young workers.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports more than 310 thousand under 25s have suffered work-related
injuries or diseases .. in the past 10 years.

It also says 500 young workers have lost their lives in that period.

PETER HENDY .. chief executive of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry ..

has rejected claims employers are exposing young casual and part-time workers .. to an
increasing risk of injury and death.

He says workplaces have actually become safer over the past decade.
